Help

Questions, asked and answered.

Everything couples ask us most often — how many cars you need, how the bands work, what is included, and what happens when things do not go to plan.

Choosing your cars

Can we view the wedding cars before we book?

Yes. You are welcome to arrange a personal appointment to see the cars in person — by email, by telephone, or through the contact form.

How many cars will I need?

Probably two: one for the mother of the bride and the bridesmaids, and one for the bride herself.

The main bridal car should be special to the bride, and not running around ferrying other passengers.

Can the bridal car take the bridesmaids first, then come back for the bride?

It can if you ask us to, but we do not recommend it. Any delay on the first journey has a knock-on effect on the second, and relying on a single car carries risk. Where possible the bride should have her own vehicle.

Will you provide transport for a civil partnership?

Yes. We provide transport for all denominations, civil ceremonies, civil partnerships, blessings and renewals of vows.

Can we squeeze in an extra person?

No. The passenger numbers shown on each car's page cannot be exceeded, in order to comply with the law and with safety regulations.

Do you provide child seats?

We do not provide them. You are welcome to supply your own for vehicles fitted with seatbelts, but fitting them is your responsibility. The chauffeur may decline a seat that risks damage or indentation to the leather.

Will you carry young children?

Yes, provided they are accompanied by an adult who remains seated with them. Bear in mind that some of the classic vehicles have no seatbelts, so parents may prefer to use their own car.

Timing and pricing

How long do we have the car for?

For as long as you need — you simply select the appropriate price band. Any deviation from the band you have booked will incur additional hourly and mileage charges.

How are the hire charges calculated?

Each vehicle has a minimum charge, shown as Band A. A local wedding with minimal mileage — up to 30 miles — and up to four hours on site is charged at that rate. Beyond that, charges are based on your destinations, mileage and time.

What is included in the price?

Mileage within your band, ribbons and silk floral dressing, a uniformed chauffeur, complimentary water, umbrellas and an emergency sewing kit, and up to four hours on site. The full list is set out on the price list page.

How far do you travel?

We will travel a considerable distance from our base if you are willing to meet the additional cost. Ask us for a quotation.

Do you only provide the minimum hire?

No — every quote is calculated against your own itinerary. Prices increase for bridesmaids' journeys, extra photograph locations, waiting time or additional mileage.

We are having a blessing following a civil ceremony. Is there an extra charge?

Not if it is for the same party and stays within the time and mileage allowance you have booked.

I am going to arrive fashionably late at the church.

Tell us in advance and book the additional time. We cannot always accommodate extra time that has not been booked in advance.

A late arrival can also cause a late finish, which may incur further charges — and in some cases the vicar may decline to proceed.

On the day

Do you provide champagne?

We offer complimentary champagne, though licensing regulations mean we have to make a charge for the glasses. We can supply anything from sparkling wine to Louis Roederer Cristal.

Can we drink in the car?

No. We do not allow uncorking of champagne inside any vehicle, or drinking in transit. No drinks are allowed inside any of our vehicles.

Your chauffeur will happily help with uncorking outside the car.

Do you provide flowers in the car?

Yes — a silk floral display is provided as standard, although it is not practical in the convertible or open-top cars.

Will the car have ribbons on?

Yes. Traditional white or ivory ribbons are standard. Other colours can sometimes be arranged, but may incur an additional charge.

Can our guests throw confetti, rice or lavender into the vehicle?

No. Damp confetti damages upholstery, and dry confetti works its way into crevices and radiators. Excessive removal costs may be charged to the hirer, and any damage is the hirer's responsibility.

What happens if the car is delayed?

Delays caused by traffic, weather, accidents or mechanical glitches are unforeseen and outside our control.

Any delay caused by road or weather problems must be accepted by the hirer before making a booking. Claims for refunds or compensation will not be accepted.

What happens if the car breaks down?

If a breakdown happens before the hire begins, we will offer you an alternative vehicle or refund you.

If it happens during the hire and you have booked more than one vehicle, another takes over. With a single vehicle and no practical replacement, a proportionate refund applies.

It must be accepted by the hirer that booking a vehicle does not guarantee its performance. If this concerns you, we suggest hiring two vehicles or choosing one of the modern cars.

Booking, deposits and offers

Do I need to pay a deposit to reserve a vehicle?

Yes. Deposits can be paid by cash, internet transfer, PayPal or cheque. A vehicle is only reserved once the deposit has been paid.

When is the balance payment due?

Six weeks before the date of hire.

Will I lose my deposit if I cancel my booking?

Yes — all deposits are non-refundable. Full cancellation details are set out in our terms and conditions.

Do you provide vehicles for school proms?

Yes, through our associate company Prestige Private Wedding Car Hire, which holds the licensing and operator credentials required under the Road Safety Act 2006.

I was quoted a special offer price but did not book, and the offer has ended. Can I still have it?

No. Special offers are time-limited and are made to qualifying enquiries only.

I booked on a special offer but need to amend my itinerary. What happens to the price?

If the amendment adds no mileage, time or locations, the price is unchanged. If it does, you will receive a new quotation at current rates, and the discount will be lost.

How do I know your special offers are genuine?

All our offers are genuine, and at certain times of year they are heavily discounted. To qualify, your itinerary needs to meet the criteria of the offer — changing it may mean losing the discount.
